Front suspension coil over project

Listed below are step by step pictures of the conversion of my Koni struts into coil overs using a Ground Control coil over kit.  The Ground control kit consists of a collar which all of the components will rest on, a threaded sleeve with lower adjustable spring seat, Eibach 2.5" diameter springs, bump stop, and the upper spring seat/top hat (fig. 3).

The first step is to prepare the spring perch to be cut off by marking a line around the base just above the weld and on the support bracket (fig. 1).   I then cut of the support bracket to get it out of the way.  Now I carefully cut around the the line on the perch with a die grinder/cut off wheel.  After the perch is cut off I cleaned it up on a bench grinder, I also had to grind down the retainer at the top of the strut body so the sleeve will fit over the strut body (fig. 2).

To finish up the assembly I put a fresh coat of matching orange paint on the strut and dropped the coil over kit onto the strut, in this order; collar, threaded sleeve/adjuster, coil spring, bump stop, top hat (fig. 4).
